Before explaining how to download iWork for free, I think it’s useful to understand, exactly, what iWork is and what applications it includes.
As I have already partially mentioned in the introduction of the article, iWork is a productivity suite developed directly by Apple. It stands as an alternative to other competing suites, primarily Microsoft’s Office (whose files are fully supported), and is available for free for both Mac and iPhone and iPad.
iWork basically includes three software: Pages, a word processing program that allows you to write documents and enrich them with images, tables, graphs and more; Numbers, which allows you to process spreadsheets and Keynote, which allows the development of slide presentations.
As easy to understand, they integrate with iCloud, Apple’s cloud storage service and, in fact, are also available as an online service that can be used directly by the browser: just connect to the iCloud site, log in with your Apple ID and click on the application icon to launch between Pages, Keynote and Numbers.
Unless you have decided to uninstall the applications that are part of the iWork suite, you will not need to download them, as they are already included “standard” in macOS and iOS. If, on the other hand, you have uninstalled the applications in question and now you don’t know how to reinstall them, read on: in the next paragraphs I will explain in detail how to download them both on Mac and on iPhone and iPad.
Yes, these are applications that are intended for a predominantly domestic or pro-sumer public, not for a purely professional audience. They use proprietary file formats but are also able to read and modify documents created with applications included in competing suites, such as Microsoft Office.
