How to make screenshots on iPhone XS
The procedure to make iPhone XS screenshots is simple and fast and does not require the download of any application. This feature, in fact, is integrated “standard” in iOS and can be used simply by pressing two of the three physical keys of the device. Which? I’ll tell you right
As mentioned above, to take a screenshot on the iPhone XS, simply press the physical keys of your “iPhone by”, the same ones you use to turn on and off the device or manage the volume.
Then, take your iPhone and press the Volume Up button simultaneously (the physical button at the top left side of the iPhone, which serves to increase the volume of the device) and the right side button (the same as you use to turn on / off the iPhone screen).
If everything has gone well, the device will emit a white light similar to a flash and, if the volume is not deactivated, a sound similar to taking a picture will signal the “capture” of the screen.
If, on the other hand, you are wondering if it is possible to take a screenshot using Siri, I am sorry to tell you that this functionality, for the moment, has not yet been implemented on any iPhone. However, if you have activated Siri and pronounce the commands “Hey Siri” and “Make a screenshot”, the Apple voice assistant will remind you of the procedure to get a snapshot of the screen.away!
In case one of the two side buttons is damaged, it will be useful to know that there is an alternative solution to take a screenshot on the iPhone. By activating AssistiveTouch, the accessibility feature that allows you to have a virtual Home button on the screen and control the device easily, you can make a snapshot of the screen of your iPhone even without pressing the combination of keys that I have indicated in the previous paragraphs.
To activate AssistiveTouch on your iPhone, access the iOS Settings by tapping on the gear wheel icon visible on the device’s home screen, and click on the General and Accessibility items. In the new screen displayed, locate the Interaction section, tap the AssistiveTouch option and move the lever next to the AssistiveTouch item from OFF to ON.
Alternatively, if you have an Internet connection and you have Siri enabled, you can also activate AssistiveTouch via voice commands, saying the phrases “Hey Siri” and “Activate AssistiveTouch”.
You are now ready to take a screenshot on the iPhone XS using the virtual Home button that appeared on your screen. To proceed, tap on the white button, choose the Device option, press on the item Other and tap on the Snapshot screen option to “capture” the screen of your interest.
It will be useful to know that you can also customize the AssistiveTouch screen and set the quick options of your interest. In this case, go back to the iOS Settings, click on the General, Accessibility and AssistiveTouch items and, in the new screen displayed, select the Edit main menu option.
Then press on the + button, to add a new icon, tap on the new icon added, select the Instant screen option and press the Finish button, to save the changes: by doing so, to make a screenshot you just need to press the button white and select the Instant screen option from the proposed menu.
Alternatively, in the AssistiveTouch section, choose the option of your interest between Single touch, Double tap and Long press, press Instant screen and tap the Finish button to save the changes and take a screenshot, respectively, by pressing once on the white button, pressing it twice quickly or with a long press.
Subsequently, to deactivate AssistiveTouch, you must return to the Settings> General> Accessibility menu and move the relative lever to OFF–
Regardless of the procedure put into practice to make a snapshot of the screen of your iPhone, it will be useful to know that the screenshot just taken, before being automatically saved in the photo gallery of your iPhone, will be visible for a few moments (about 7 seconds) in the lower left corner of the screen.
By clicking on the box in question, you will be able to access the iOS photo editor to preview the captured image and make any changes to it, using one of the tools visible below.
- Pennarello: it is the tool that allows you to write and draw on the screenshot.
- Highlighter: it is useful to highlight, with an opaque stroke, a part of the snapshot previously captured.
- Pencil: to write on the image using a light stroke.
- Rubber: it allows you to delete any parts inserted with the felt-tip pen, the highlighter and the pencil.
- Selection tool: select an element of the screenshot.
- Color table: it is useful to quickly select the color of your interest.
Furthermore, by pressing the + button located at the bottom right, you can use additional tools to add text, to affix a signature, to enlarge a portion of the image and to insert various forms (squares, vignettes, arrows, etc.).
If, instead, you want to cut out the screenshot and save only a portion of it, you can select the part of the image that interests you by dragging one of the 8 cursors visible on the sides and corners of the screenshot.
Complete the changes of your interest, press the Finish button (top left) and choose the Save to Photo option, to save the screenshot and make changes, or the Delete Instant Screen option, to permanently delete the image.

If your intention is to take screenshots of entire Web pages, I’m sorry to tell you that this feature is not yet available on the iPhone (it will be introduced with iOS 13). However, you can succeed in your intent by downloading one of the third-party applications that let you do it, like Awesome Screenshot for Safari.
After downloading the app in question from the App Store, all you need to do is start Safari, press the arrow icon inside a square visible at the bottom and choose the Other option. In the new screen displayed, move the lever next to the Screenshot item from OFF to ON and press the Finish button to save the changes.
